The walnut-shell confinement
Confine a small but persistent nuisance within boundaries no larger than it deserves.
What you’ll need
- Two clean walnut-shell halves
- A tiny strip of paper
- Cotton thread
The ritual
- Write the nuisance in the fewest possible words on the paper.
- Fold the strip and place it between the empty shell halves.
- Bind the shell closed with thread, keeping the knot tight and the words unseen.
- Store it at the back of a cupboard for a month, then open it and reassess whether the matter still deserves space.
