The salt-and-soot severing
Separate your path from a hostile attachment that has survived ordinary distance.
What you’ll need
- Two small dishes
- Coarse salt
- A pinch of clean soot or charcoal
- A strip of paper
The ritual
- Place salt in one dish for your path and charcoal in the other for the hostile attachment.
- Lay the paper between them and draw a line down its center.
- Pull the dishes slowly apart until the paper falls free between them.
- Tear the paper along the line, dispose of the charcoal, and keep the salt for cleaning the threshold.
