The knotted rumor
Catch a rumor in its own repetition until it can travel no farther.
What you’ll need
- A length of gray thread
- Three paper slips
- A pencil
The ritual
- Write the rumor once on each slip, making it shorter each time.
- Roll every slip tightly and tie it into the thread with a separate knot.
- Pull the knots together and say, “Your road ends in your own words.”
- Store the cord in a closed drawer until the gossip fades, then untie and recycle the paper.
