THE GRIMOIRE / LOVE & CONNECTION

The wooden spoon accord

A wooden spoon working with domestic power hidden inside repeated ordinary labor to strengthen a willing, reciprocal bond through attention and care.

Meaning and practice

The central tension is domestic power hidden inside repeated ordinary labor. A wooden spoon makes routine itself the instrument of change. For this reason, the rite does not end with the spoken charge. Its result is measured by whether you can answer “Which daily act quietly governs the atmosphere around you?” with a concrete choice.

Alter one household repetition for seven days and observe who notices. That demand is what distinguishes this wooden spoon rite from another accord: its conclusion depends on the specific problem carried by a clean wooden spoon, not on a generic promise of change.

Sources behind this working

Domestic Folk-lore

T. F. Thiselton-Dyer · 1881

The source records historical uses and meanings of objects in the same family as a clean wooden spoon. A wooden spoon makes routine itself the instrument of change. This working applies that documented motif to strengthen a willing, reciprocal bond through attention and care; its wording and sequence are original to Okkult.

What you’ll need

  • A clean wooden spoon
  • A clean mixing bowl
  • A cup of uncooked dry beans
  • A small shared-calendar card
  • Two pencils of different colors

The ritual

  1. Wash and dry the spoon and bowl. Count nine dry beans into the bowl; do not use beans intended for immediate cooking. Arrange the workspace specifically for this accord, removing anything that will not be used.
  2. Mark one time you could offer connection and leave room for the other person to alter or decline it. Keep this question visible while you work: “Which daily act quietly governs the atmosphere around you?”
  3. Turn the spoon clockwise above the paper three times as if gently stirring the air. Keep a clean wooden spoon separate from any token representing another person; closeness in this accord must leave room for refusal.
  4. Place the object below the proposed time, say “Care is freely given, freely received, and never compelled,” and erase any assumption of agreement. Alter one household repetition for seven days and observe who notices.
  5. Wash the spoon and return it to ordinary kitchen use. Carry out the caring action without trying to control another person’s feelings.
