THE JOURNAL / THE NATURAL WORLD

Keeping time with the moon.

A quiet introduction to lunar cycles and finding a rhythm of your own.

Watching the moon is a way of noticing change. A notebook and a few minutes outside can be enough to begin. Record what you see, the weather, and how the evening feels.

You might use the new moon as a reminder to begin something, the waxing moon to tend it, the full moon to reflect, and the waning moon to clear space. This is a personal framework, not a rule.

Cloudy nights belong in the notebook too. The point is not a perfect record, but a recurring moment of attention.

After a month, look back at your notes. Keep the rhythm if it serves you; adapt it if it does not.
